How Ryan Living collects, uses, and protects information from readers. Last updated 2026-05-25.

What this site is

Ryan Living is a personal essay newsletter and review site published by Ryan Hayes from Asheville, NC. It is not a company. It is a one-person publication.

What I collect

When you visit ryanliving.com, my hosting provider (Cloudflare) logs your IP address and basic browser info — standard for any website. I don't run third-party analytics, ad-network pixels, or behavioral trackers. There's no Google Analytics, no Facebook pixel, no Hotjar, nothing of the sort.

If you email me at ryan@ryanliving.com, I read your message and your email address sits in my inbox. I'll reply if it warrants a reply.

I don't currently run an email newsletter. If I add one in the future, I'll only email people who explicitly sign up, and signup will be opt-in, and you'll always have a one-click unsubscribe.

Sponsored content disclosures

Some articles on this site are sponsored — they're disclosed at the top, in the byline area, and at the foot of the article. I sometimes earn an affiliate commission on products mentioned. When that's the case, the article says so plainly and the FTC-compliant disclosure block explains the relationship.

If you click a sponsored link and then make a purchase on the brand's site, the brand may set cookies on their site to attribute the sale to me. Those cookies are governed by the brand's privacy policy, not mine.

What I don't do

Cookies

Ryan Living sets no cookies. Cloudflare may set a security-related cookie (cf_clearance) to verify you're a real human and not a bot — that's a hosting-provider thing, not me.

Your rights

If I have personal information about you (most likely an email you sent me), you can ask me to send it back to you or delete it. I'll respond within 30 days. Email ryan@ryanliving.com.
